Preparing The Field

Before any endeavor there is a phase of preparation. We’re setting up the foundation. We’re establishing our footing. We’re ensuring that we have fertile soil to plant the seeds of our goals and ambitions.

This is “preparing the field.”

And that is why we aren’t jumping into dozens of meditations, pranayama (breath control exercises), and advanced postures.

Most people get started with meditation and drift here and there. Sometimes coming back to it… often times dropping the habit and picking it up again at a later time.

The reason?

They did not prepare the field.

How Will We Prepare?

The most important prerequesite for success is that you are the one who is guiding your mind and body. If it is a compulsive experience, you are victim to every type of situation.

In this way, our first challenge is to bring our mind and body under our control.

This isn’t to say that you become obsessed with controlling every thought rippling through the mind or impulse bubbling up from the body. It’s just that these are your instruments and they should function in the way you wish.
